Riesgo de tener cancer:

The High Lifetime Risk of Cancer – occurrence: 43% in males, 38% in females death risk: 1:4 for males, 1:5 for females

Existen multiples formas de prevenir cancer:

El alcohol y el sobrepeso:

Postmenopausal breast cancer was estimated to be preventable by 13-23% if the population were normal weight. Among German men, 10-25% of colon cancers were attributable to alcohol consumption and 7-13% of colorectal cancers to overweight.

La gran relacion entre la inflamacion y el cancer: (Enti-inflamatorios como curcuma, te verde, resveratrol, omega 3 y un largo etc…)

IL-6 can generate paracrine and autocrine feedback loops, thereby activating nearby cells to become cancerous and self-activating the production of more IL-6. This in turn induces apoptosis-resistance by blocking genes required for programmed cell death. It is this IL-6 driven autocrine feedback loop that is blocked by anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin, COX-2 inhibitors, as well as anti-immune drugs like rapamycin. Thus, a simple way to win the war on cancer would be for everyone to block IL-6 driven signal transduction pathways, which occur early in cancer. These drugs block cell proliferation, not cell division (and are therefore not toxic like chemotherapy drugs that block cell division).

Dormir bien es importante:

Cancer biologist are now starting to develop CSNKe inhibitors, which are a new, promising way of turning off Myc. However, you can do this every night with a good nights sleep as well. This is one explanation of why sleep is so important for cancer prevention.

Las vitaminas de forma natural son las mejores… en especial el Folato:

One of the largest studies looking at this association was the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian cancer screening trial, which looked at 25,400 women and their folate consumption over 10 years. This study showed an 19% increased risk of breast cancer with folic acid supplements but no increased risk with dietary folic acid intake (Stolzenberg-Solomon, 2006). In summary, the data keeps saying the same thing – dietary folic acid is good for you, but taking folic acid supplements may not have any benefit or may even be dangerous.

Otro estudio de gran escala nos dice: http://turner-white.com/pdf/jcom_may13_vitamins.pdf

multivitamin = 8% risk reduction in cancer incidence; high fruit & vegetable intake = 20-30% risk reduction in cancer incidence

Un texto sobre la prevencion del cancer en general:

Many causes for cancer have been discovered, based on the study of genetics, epidemiology, toxicology, mutagenesis, and radiation biology. This has led to the discovery of many risk factors for cancer including inherited mutations, single nucleotide polymorphisms, environmental pollutants, ionizing radiation, UV light, etc. Despite an extensive study of the genetic and environmental causes of cancer, the evidence suggests that lifestyle factors play a greater role in the etiology of cancer than all genetic and environmental causes combined. These lifestyle factors include smoking, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, high fat diet, low consumption of fruits and vegetables, alcohol consumption, red meat consumption, and hormone replacement therapy. When these genetic, environmental, and lifestyle risk factors are mathematically quantified, however, they do not add up to 100%. For most cancers, these 3 categories account for less than 50% of the total cases. For instance, with breast cancer, inherited gene mutations account for less than 5% of the total cases; environmental risk factors account for less than 10% of cases; and lifestyle factors account for an estimated 30% of the total cases, which only add up to 40-45%. Adding the contribution of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that increase “gene-determined cancer susceptibility”, we can only account for 50% of the “cause” of breast cancer. What is missing ? Most believe it is epigenetics.
