The jump in China shares today, the most in 3 years, was driven by two considerations. First, there are reports suggesting that government may let more funds buy securities. Financial firms, which include brokerages, led the advance, gaining over 5% today. Government-backed firms were also reportedly featured buyers. The index of Chinese companies that trade in HK rose almost 1.5% to a 9-month high. Second, sentiment was also aided by the December flash HSBC flash manufacturing PMI that rose to 50.9 from 50.5 in November. This is a 14-month high and helps blunt some lingering disappointment over some recent data.

A 11 de enero 2013:

"Tom DeMark, is now uniformly bearish on virtually all markets around the world which have triggered a sell signal in his studies, and is about to drop the axe on the US as well"

Tom DeMark made another bullish call on the Shanghai market. His previous call on that market was near perfection. For the US markets, he has officially claimed SPX 1567.40 as his target for a reversal.

TD Magnet is part of Tom DeMark’s version of Fibonacci levels. If a double top were to occur, DeMark observed that it is more likely a reversal would occur at the closing price of the previous high instead of the standard 100% Fibonacci retracement level.

“The market’s going to have one more rally, then once we get above that high, I think it’s going to be more treacherous,” DeMark says. “I think it’s all preordained right now.” He feels this is probably irrespective of how and when the crippling impasse in Washington is resolved. “If you look at the new highs and new lows on the [New York Stock Exchange],” he says, “every time we made a higher high, there were fewer stocks in the index participating in that high. It’s getting narrower.” And once that happens, you typically get a collapse. The opposite looks to be true for gold, which he expects is making its low right now and should start to move up dramatically.

Y la realidad es: (Lo consideramos un acierto o no? Acerto el suelo, subio 25% en 2 meses y despues a los 9 meses estaba casi en minimos otra vez.)

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (SPX) may advance to between 1,330 and 1,345 this month before the rally reverses, according to Tom DeMark, the creator of indicators to show turning points in securities.

That would represent a rise of at least 5.8 percent for the benchmark gauge for American equities after the worst Thanksgiving-week drop since 1932 depleted sellers, said DeMark, whose prediction in September that the S&P 500’s decline would stop at 1,076 proved prescient when the index bottomed at 1,074.77 on Oct. 4. This month’s rally will end when the S&P 500 closes higher on four successive days, DeMark said.

“I had the strongest short-term buy signal I’ve recorded in 40 years” during the week of Thanksgiving, which fell Nov. 24, said DeMark, the founder of Market Studies LLC, in a phone interview. “It’d be an explosive move to the upside.”

DeMark concludes by saying that the rally will come to an end shortly after the New Year and fall apart leading to the same percentage decline.

Que ocurrio? El suelo lo pillo! La subida fue buena… pero lo de Enero, va a ser que no…
