Fuga de depósitos

Evolution of deposits in the selected peripheral euro area countries. It shows deposits in Greece have stabilized albeit at lower levels, as has Spanish deposits. Italy’s do not appear to have been impact by the crisis.

Cyprus and Portugal continue to bleed deposits. Reports suggest that as much as 1 bln euros left Cyprus last week as press reported were highlighting the risk to (large) deposits. A report in a German paper reported some 3.4 bln euros capital has left Cyprus since the end of January. Portugal is different story. The bleeding began in late 2011 and has not stopped.
